Seems like the first backpacking trip I’ve taken in a long time was a total success. Roughly 6 miles into Desolation Wilderness and 2,000 feet of elevation gain, buckets of mosquito alongside ‘gourmet’ backpacking food made this trip one to remember.
First stop was Grouse Lake, followed by Hemlock, where we made camp. Definitely wish we would have made it to Smith Lake. Unfortunately elevation and lack of body fuel made that too much a chore. Next time!
Oh and did I mention the second brightest moon I’ve ever seen? Hardly a need for flashlights. Seems like I’m hooked. Next stop, Lake Winnemucca and hopefully Round Top, at 10k feet. Wish me luck.
